Sons of The South!

Guys, there's nothing I love more than watching friends become family and that is exactly who the boys from SOTS are!

This newly opened espresso bar run by Benjamin Di Palma and Joshua Di Pietro will see you waving at the top of Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn. These 3rd-generation Italians have made their mark in the South-East by bringing old family traditions to the generic yuppie you will find down in Hawthorn.

With the finest pastries and bread from Cobb Lane, for any of you foodies that know these artisan bakers. The owner is Pastry Head Chef Matt Forbes from Vue de Monde & Shannon Bennet's, his kind of a big deal, so you know the boys at Sons of The South have nailed the brief in the bread & pastry department.

They didn't stop there, these boys sourced out the best coffee beans all the way from the Mornington Peninsula. That's right a couple of wogs lappin' it up on the good ol' Peninsula, how do you think I met them? They sourced the coffee's from Commonfolk Coffee to bring you that espresso bar feel as if you went back to Napoli.

Yes, I broke the 5km radius rule, sue me.

So, why did I go? Because they clearly are experts in the panino department so I had to try it out for myself.

With the deli slicer being the star of the show, the cured meats are only going to be cut to perfection. Their wog sandwiches are made fresh to order, so there are new specials every week to the yuppies surprise.

The cheese dream:

- Fresh Ciabatta

- Wild Truffle Mushroom

- Provolone

- Manchego

The cheese oozes right out of the panino freshly toasted with a hint of wild truffle and mushrooms, it's a vegetarians delight!

The freshly toasted Ciabatta bread was crunchy on the outside soft on the inside, with the Provolone Cheese and Manchego Cheese melted all over the truffled mushrooms, it is hard to shy away from this delicious panino.

These guys definitely paid attention to what should go into a panino to fill the stomachs of the people down in Hawthorn!

They haven't stopped there, their freshly made porchetta panino, with salsa verde and asiago cheese will make you feel right at home in the meat-lovers department!

Can we just give a praise to the attention to detail in the bread and finely sliced prochetta?

These boys can definitely work a crowd and they will make you feel right at home with their welcoming personality and sick Italian playlist. Not to mention, they're still open for take-away to make you forget about this dreadful lockdown we're still in.

They're worth breaking the 5km radius so give them a visit down at 791 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn.
